Lab Negative Certifying Scientist - Lenexa, KS, Tuesday to Saturday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM
This position, within the Forensic Toxicology Drug Testing Laboratory, reviews analytical data to ensure accuracy, completeness and defensibility of testing results and reporting documents prior to release of a result report.
Pay range: $24.52+ per hour; employee may be eligible to receive shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift. Additional details on shift differential will be provided if an offer is extended.
Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

- Certifies negative and rejected drug testing results according to the Laboratory's Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Manual.
- Ensures that all test results reported by the laboratory are accurate and legally defensible.
- Describes the standard drug testing procedures from point of collection to negative certification in a court of law.
- Interacts on a limited basis with clients, medical review officers, call center representatives and sales staff in a professional manner to address questions pertaining to the drug testing process.
- Interacts with laboratory inspectors to demonstrate a detailed working knowledge of the lab SOPS, Quality Control practices, analytical procedures, test theory, reporting procedures, corrective actions and applicable regulations pertaining to drug screening.
- Provides appropriate feedback to the Supervisor and Responsible Person in order to assist in maintaining an accurate SOP.
- Takes proper remedial action in response to test systems being out of control limits or detecting aberrant test or quality control results.
- Functions as a technical resource for department personnel in accessioning and screening areas.
- Follows work schedule as defined by the Certifying Scientist Supervisor.
- Actively participates in department meetings by providing constructive feedback.
- Maintains proficiency in screening test area.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all instrumentation associated with the initial test procedures in order to assist in troubleshooting measures.
- Maintains a working knowledge of the accessioning procedures and protocols to ensure proper specimen and chain of custody handling.
- Maintains a working knowledge of the theory and practice of initial test methods used in the laboratory.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of all federal, state and other regulatory requirements as they pertain to applicable aspects of forensic drug testing.
- Complies with all health and safety policies, procedures, and practices. Required to use personal protective equipment.

Required
Work Experience:
Six years experience in forensic analytical toxicology or equivalent.
Physical and Mental Requirements: Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods.
