Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Café Team Member is to perform the following tasks: take orders; prepare menu items including soups, salads, sandwiches, and drinks while providing excellent customer service.

Essential Job Functions:

Cooks food and prepares drinks according to menus and recipes

Understand and adhere to all recipes.

Remain alert to all team members and helps team out when needed.

Consult daily menus and prep sheets to determine which food will be cooked for the day.

Use all kitchen equipment appropriately.

Organizes food preparation

Ensure that food and drinks are ready at the proper time and temperature.

Organize food and drinks to be served.

Follows Food Code standards for preparing, handling, serving and storing food Check and record temperatures of food to ensure that it is served at correct temperatures.

Cool food according to the Kansas Food Code.

Prepare, cook and store food under appropriate temperatures and with safe food handling techniques.

Cook food and prepare drinks in a manner to conserve nutritive value, flavor, appearance and texture.

Uses food and supplies appropriately to maintain budget

Understand and follow food portion controls.

Avoid wasting food or supplies

Clean in assigned areas.

Keep all kitchen equipment clean and in good working order.

Cleans and sanitizes food preparation areas

Help wash dishes and put them away.

Complete cleaning schedules.

Use good sanitation practices.

Qualifications and

Experience:

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Must be able to operate a computer and handle basic cash transactions.

Must have a positive attitude and provide great customer service.

Must enjoy working with the elderly and be able to understand their needs.

Must be able to speak and write English.

Physical Requirements:

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
