Description:

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing agronomic consulting and operational support to producers, including crop protection, crop nutrients, soil fertility, seed, and precision agriculture technology. This role performs soil testing; sales, delivery, and blending of fertilizer; crop protection products and seed; writes agronomy service orders; operates and maintains agronomy equipment; and supports overall agronomy operations. This position provides integrated solutions utilizing MKC products and services to address yield impacting issues, improve customer profitability, increase MKC’s market share, and enhance operational efficiency—while delivering superior customer experience and supporting MKC’s mission and goals.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current operational knowledge of spray rigs, spreaders, and tender trucks at assigned locations
  • Working knowledge of crop nutrients, crop protection products, seed, and agronomy services
  • Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations
  • Strong planning, coordination, communication, organization, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Computer and data entry proficiency
  • Ability to handle customer concerns professionally and resolve complaints
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and complete other essential tasks as assigned

Licenses /

Certifications:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Class A CDL with Hazardous Materials and Tanker endorsements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Custom Applicator’s License

Requirements:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to taste or smell. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Eye protection is required in restricted areas. Appropriate clothing required when handling chemicals.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

A bachelor’s degree from a four-year university or college or four years experience in agronomy or a related agricultural field.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Manage agronomy operations at the location in the absence of the Agronomy Operations Manager.
  • Increase MKC’s market share of crop nutrients, crop protection products, seed, technology, and agronomy services within the assigned territory.
  • Grow and maintain a profitable customer base by delivering integrated agronomic solutions and yield enhancing products.
  • Provide timely, professional agronomic recommendations on soil fertility, weeds, insects, diseases, and other yield limiting factors using Best Management Practices.
  • Support sales planning, goal setting, and execution of marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other MKC departments, managers, & partners to support cross selling and customer solutions.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of MKC products, services, pricing, and available resources to make appropriate recommendations.
  • Perform soil testing, crop scouting, and weed and insect identification services.
  • Operate spray, spreader, and tender truck equipment as required by the location.
  • Maintain delivery schedules & manage product performance issues to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Train employees on agronomy equipment operation and maintenance as assigned.
  • Follow all equipment maintenance procedures and ensure safe operation of company equipment.
  • Write agronomy service orders and invoice product deliveries accurately and timely, ensuring required documentation and receipts are submitted daily.
  • Maintain inventory control of seed, chemicals, and fertilizer at assigned locations.
  • Promote and assist with MKC finance programs and other approved grower financing tools.
  • Enforce MKC credit policies, including adherence to approved credit limits and COD requirements.
