Compensation: $25.28/hr.
TEMPORARY additional pay of $2.50/hr. for every hour worked.

Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
This position performs duties as assigned by the Chief of Safety and Security in all areas of training, roving, campus duties, secure door position, and control centers as assigned for the department within departmental guidelines. Prepares and delivers training using various media to complete presentations on numerous subjects to S/S officers. Additional duties involve providing a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors, immediate response to dangerous situations, pursuing, searching, apprehending, and returning walk a way's or escapees, controlling riot conditions, and deals with dangerous, hostile, and combative patients.
Skills should include good interpersonal communication and computer skills and the ability to deal with stressful situations, meet deadlines, and follow departmental guidelines, procedures, and policies. Will supervise officers as assigned.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
SUPERVISION
Provides leadership to all Officers on his/her assigned shift. Responsible for maintaining the correct number of Officers to ensure the Hospital's safety and protection to patients, staff, and state property according to state laws, rules and regulations, or KDADs, the Safety/Security department, Life Safety Code, policies and procedures at LSH, SSH, and SPTP. Responsible for all the Officers on the shift to receive training in all required areas of security and safety including control center operations, secure door operations, roving, firefighting, and other areas as assigned.
Formally evaluates subordinates at least annually. Will be the contact person on scheduling transports that require security officers. Will make sure all transports are on the schedule and to follow up to make sure all documentation is updated and printed off for all transports. This person will also be in charge of checking all restraint arsenals and transport bags. Will also assist in admissions and discharges when available.

LAW ENFORCEMENT
* Exercises delegated statutory powers at the discretion of Superintendent, and as assigned by Chief of Safety and Security.
* Responds immediately to dangerous or emergency situations.
* Pursues, searches, apprehends and/or returns walkaways and escapees.
* Enforces State statutes, local laws and Larned State Hospital regulations.
* Collects statements, evidence, photos and video for proper documentation for the Special Investigator for possible prosecution.
* Enforces parking and traffic regulations.
* Conducts accident investigations.
* Patrols the Hospital grounds according to assignment.
