Locate Technician

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Locate Technician to join our team in Overbrook, KS. The Locate Technician will be responsible for identifying and marking underground utilities to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in various weather conditions.

• Respond to locate requests and accurately identify underground utility lines including gas, water, electric, and telecommunications.
• Use specialized equipment and maps to mark utility locations in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Communicate effectively with contractors, utility companies, and customers to provide clear and accurate information.
• Maintain detailed records of locate activities and report any discrepancies or issues.
• Follow safety protocols to prevent damage to underground utilities and ensure personal and public safety.
• Perform routine maintenance on locating equipment and tools.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions and travel to different job sites as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in utility locating, construction, or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of underground utility systems and local regulations.
• Ability to read maps, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Physical ability to perform outdoor work, including walking, bending, and lifting.
