Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Electrician/ Electrician Installation
TAMKO is seeking an Instrumentation Technician at our Phillipsburg, Kansas manufacturing facility. The Instrumentation Technician will perform work activities pertaining to automation, electrical safety, reliability standards, inspection, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
Summary of Essential Job FunctionsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. - Understands, participates, and follows all applicable safety standards and programs.
- Uses electronics and electrical test devices to test equipment for safety and efficiency.
- Performs electrical repairs on various types of electrical equipment per SOP’s and PM’s, including 480
Vac, 3‑phase, and 120
Vac single‑phase equipment. - Reads, understands, and generates standard electrical schematics.
- Creates and modifies PLC and HMI programs.
- Selects, installs, configures and calibrates industrial instruments and devices
- Bends, hangs and runs conduit where needed; pulls electrical cable and wire in conduit; transports and stacks conduit and electrical wire as needed.
- Trains operators on new systems and updates LOTO and SOP information.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree (A.
A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school preferred. - Two to three years of related experience and/or training preferred.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to position himself or herself to operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or maintain heavy plant equipment. This may require climbing stairs or ladders, bending, kneeling, crawling, squatting, and/or stooping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and may occasionally lift or move heavier objects with assistance.
- The employee may work around moving mechanical parts, at elevated heights, where dust and fumes could be present, with or near chemicals, in hot environments, around electrical equipment, and in a loud environment. The employee must understand and mitigate these risks, follow all prescribed safety rules, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment when necessary.
