Location: Rolla

Position Overview

Now hiring for our shop in Rolla, KS. This position performs routine and some non‑routine maintenance and repair work on vehicles—primarily Class 8 trucks and pickups—according to Transdev standards. Responsibilities include tire maintenance, fulfilling service calls, conducting visual inspections, and performing basic to advanced maintenance with minimal supervision. The role may mentor Technician I and refer complex issues to higher‑level staff.

All work is performed with a commitment to safety.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and ensure vehicle safety by performing limited repairs and moderate supervision on basic and advanced maintenance tasks (e.g., light bulb replacement, fuses, wiper blades, belts, hoses, batteries, fluid checks, filter changes, lubrications).
  • Perform mechanical repairs with moderate supervision, including brakes and brake inspections, engine tune‑ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, parts used, and ensure work orders are completed properly.
  • Assist Tech III with preventative maintenance, safety inspections and annual maintenance at prescribed intervals.
  • Remove and replace engine, transmission and differential assemblies under Maintenance Technician III supervision.
  • Diagnose and execute all phases of vehicle and equipment repair with moderate supervision.
  • Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken.
  • Evaluate completed work prior to release and seek required approval.
  • Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary.
  • Adhere to Transdev standards, policies and procedures.
  • Move vehicles safely between job and work area.
  • Repair and maintain all shop equipment.
  • Clean vehicles as requested or required.
  • Other responsibilities as requested or required.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair (preferred).
  • Class B CDL with air brake endorsement (preferred).
  • State inspection license (if required).
  • ASE Certification (preferred).
Experience
  • Intermediate mechanical aptitude and 3 years of automotive or diesel repair experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Adherence to DOT state motor vehicle inspection and safety standards.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Intermediate problem‑solving ability.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Comfortable using hand tools.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Maintain an organized shop and clean work environment.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential.
  • Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
  • Own adequate mechanic tool inventory and maintain it safely.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical (if applicable).

    Note:

    DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Work in a maintenance shop environment with dust, dirt and grease.
  • Work under all weather conditions.
  • Lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Work in crouched position, on back, lying on mechanic’s creeper, or beneath motor vehicle equipment.
