Job Overview
Perform all levels of repair and preventative maintenance on power generation assemblies, diagnose and troubleshoot problems, make recommendations for repairs, and perform all critical repairs and adjustments. Must be willing to work overtime as required by fluctuating workloads and available for after-hours calls as needed. Perform required DOT inspections to ensure the service truck is in proper, safe working order. Conduct generator pre‑start and start‑ups in accordance with the manufacturer checklist.
Use resistive load bank equipment for testing and repair of generators. Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations.
- Perform all levels of repair and preventive maintenance on power generation assemblies.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems; make repair recommendations and execute critical repairs and adjustments.
- Perform DOT inspections to certify the service truck is safe and operational.
- Conduct generator pre‑start and start‑ups following manufacturer checklists.
- Use resistive load bank equipment to test and repair generators.
- Travel to training or assist at other work locations as required.
- Safely and repeatedly lift components weighing up to 115 pounds without assistance.
- Safely lift, carry, and lower components weighing up to 65 pounds without assistance.
- Frequently push, pull, and carry heavy materials.
- Climb on and off equipment and work at varying heights.
- Stand, bend, and work in physically demanding positions for extended periods.
- Safely operate tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of power generator applications and repairs.
- General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools, and instruments.
- Ability to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins, schematics, line diagrams, and other related publications.
- Class A CDL or Class B required, or ability to obtain a CDL.
- Experience working within the diesel mechanics industry, specifically with power generation equipment.
- Ability to foster positive relationships internally and externally.
