Accountant, Financial Reporting, Financial Analyst

Responsibilities

• Prepare recurring, reclassification, standard, and adjusting journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
• Reconcile general ledger account balances to supporting schedules and sub‑ledger detail monthly.
• Participate in month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes, including accruals and adjustments.
• Maintain and update financial records in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Support the preparation of internal and external financial reports.
• Prepare bank reconciliations monthly.
• Prepare general excise tax returns on both cash and accrual methods.
• Set up and maintain fixed assets schedules to include additions, retirements, and depreciation (internal book and various tax books).
• Monitor and analyze accounting data to identify trends, variances, or areas for improvement.
• Assist with audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Assist with special projects as requested.

• Math – Excellent math skills to review and analyze financial data and perform calculations related to daily tasks.
• Reading – Able to read and understand financial forms and technical documents.
• Other – Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Email. Adept at learning in‑house systems; keyboarding skills sufficient to complete daily tasks in a timely manner. Knowledge of accounting or ERP systems required. Knowledge of Vista or Sage 100 systems a plus.
• Education – College degree in Business Administration. Degree in Accounting preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
• Experience – 5+ years relevant experience in accounting or a closely related field. Previous experience in the construction or asphalt business preferred.

$75,000 - $80,000 per year
