Overview
Put your experience to work supporting essential services for the community. This position performs clerical and office support work, independently handling complex records, documents, reports, and office processes that support daily operations and public service delivery. The City is seeking motivated and reliable individuals with clerical experience to fill multiple Office Assistant III positions in the following departments:

Real Property Assessment Division – 1 vacancy- Office Assistant III positions within the Real Property Assessment Division are part of a career progression and may advance to Tax Clerk, Abstracting Assistant, or Tax Maps and Records Technician.

- Office Assistant III position within this division may advance to Police Documents Clerk.
- Independently review, evaluate, and process complex forms, records, and documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with established requirements.
- Research information from paper and electronic records, organize findings, and prepare clear summaries and reports.
- Create, edit, and manage documents using word processing and other office software.
- Provide information to staff and the public by explaining policies, procedures, and requirements in a clear and professional manner.
- May guide, train, and review the work of clerical staff to support efficient office operations.
- Other duties as assigned for the position.

Hiring Process- Applications must be submitted online to be accepted. This job posting will close on February 21, 2026, 11:59 p.m., Hawaii Standard Time (HST).
- Interviews for the Department of Budget and Fiscal Services will be held on March 16, 2026.
- Interviews for the Honolulu Police Department will be held at a later date.
- A conditional job offer will be made after all interviews have concluded.
- Additional interviews for future vacancies may be scheduled by the individual hiring departments as vacancies occur.
At the time of application, you must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or a non‑citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
Education RequirementSubstantially equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may substitute for education.
Experience RequirementTwo (2) years of clerical experience.

- Knowledge of correct English grammar, spelling, and word usage
- Knowledge of filing methods and systems
- Ability to keep records, summarize and analyze materials, and prepare reports
- Ability to operate standard office machines and equipment
- Ability to give and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to deal with others in an effective and tactful manner
Business school or college-level credits from an accredited college or university will substitute for experience on a month‑for‑month basis for the required clerical experience.
