Job Description
Receive and coordinate requests for the repair and maintenance of schools and other public buildings; conduct informal bid purchasing for supplies, materials and services required in repairs and maintenance; maintain pertinent operating and fiscal data; and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Legal Authorization to WorkThe State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
EducationGraduation from high school. Excess experience of the type described below or work experience requiring the ability to read and comprehend and apply written directions or a high degree of verbal skill may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
General ExperienceTwo (2) years of general work experience which required the keeping of written records.
Specialized Experience- Three (3) years of progressively responsible work experience in one or a combination of the following areas:
- A. SCHEDULING: building construction or maintenance work which includes receiving requests, recommending or determining priorities, scheduling jobs, making estimates, following up on status, preparing status reports, and performing related duties.
- B. PURCHASING: building construction or maintenance materials or services, including studying market conditions, selecting sources of supply, preparing purchase orders, bid proposals, contracts, analyzing cost price proposals, and performing related duties.
- C. SELLING: building construction or maintenance materials or services, including preparing bids, calling on customers, displaying and demonstrating merchandise, estimating or quoting prices, preparing forms and sales contracts, preparing reports of transactions, and performing related duties.
- D. ESTIMATING: labor and material costs of construction or maintenance materials or services, including examining specifications, compiling itemized materials and price lists, computing cost estimates, and performing related duties.
Applicants must possess supervisory aptitude demonstrated by prior supervisory responsibilities or potential.
Driver's LicenseApplicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
