Overview
The Oral Surgery Treatment Coordinator is a key role in our practice, serving as the main connection between our oral surgeon and our patients. You will guide them through their treatment journey with clarity, care, and confidence.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Treatment Coordinator, you will help manage the patient’s experience from the first consultation through final scheduling. Your responsibilities include:
- Treatment Plans & Financial Conversations: Meeting with patients to clearly explain recommended procedures such as dental implants or wisdom tooth extractions in an easy-to-understand language. You will walk patients through timelines, expectations, costs, insurance benefits, and estimated out-of-pocket expenses. This may also include helping patients explore payment plans or third-party financing options when needed. Familiarity with insurance pre-authorizations is important.
- Scheduling & Pre-Op Coordination: Scheduling surgical appointments and managing the doctor’s calendar while making sure all pre-operative requirements, medical clearances, lab work, imaging, collaborative cases with other providers are completed ahead of time.
- Communication & Follow-Up: Acting as the main point of contact for referring dental offices to collect records, X-rays, and referrals. You will also follow up with patients who have not scheduled treatment yet, helping answer questions and remove any obstacles. Additionally, you will assist with pre- and post-operative communication by sharing instructions and directing questions to the appropriate team members with empathy and professionalism.
- Experience: 12 months of experience in an oral surgery office, working with patients, referring dental offices, and vendors. Chairside experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong Communication: Clear, professional, and friendly written and verbal communication skills.
- Organization & Time Management: The ability to stay organized; manage multiple tasks (follow-up on prescriptions, reports, medical clearances, surgical case guides); and maintain accurate records.
- Technology
Skills:
Comfort using computers and dental practice management software and MS Word is required. - Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
