Casual Financial Aid Outreach Specialist
Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to one calendar year for part-time employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary contact for college financial planning for prospective and current students at UHWO.
- Provide expert knowledge and guidance regarding financial aid access and completion at the state and national level.
- Provide technical responses to financial aid issues for students and parents, including financial concerns related to FAFSA technical issues and processing challenges.
- Actively monitor, identify, document, and escalate FAFSA-related technical issues and system bugs, and collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to support timely resolutions and communication to students.
- Provide student services and instruction through online and virtual presentations and workshops.
- Serve as a primary contact for FAFSA and college financial literacy at Oahu High Schools and Community Colleges.
- Assist scholarship committees for UH Foundation and Institutional scholarships
- Collaborate and coordinate active management of tools, processes, and relationships for efficient financial aid delivery of services.
- Construct and assemble data for campus financial aid, decision-making, develop conclusions, and present high-level summary of recommendations.
- Contribute to unit and organization strategy; assist in the development of change management plans and materials as needed. Participate as a member of program team to support new initiatives. Make decisions determining approach to managing and completing processes.
- May act as a lead, train, coach, and review the work of other staff, as needed. Contribute primarily through applying corporate and individual expertise. Attend relevant campus, UH system, and local and national federal financial aid training to support ongoing professional development.
