Job SummaryPerforms highly complex library support work; supervises and participates in performing complex library support work; performs substantive technical/paraprofessional library support work requiring knowledge of techniques used in one or more basic elements of library sciences; performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Legal Authorization to Work:
Citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment. - General
Experience:
One year of clerical work experience demonstrating knowledge of spelling, arithmetic, and ability to read and understand instructions, compare words and numbers quickly and accurately. - Experience includes knowledge of and ability to perform various clerical procedures, operate office equipment, and interact with others in a tactful and polite manner; or experience comparable to a Library Assistant II level.
- Specialized
Experience:
Two years of progressively responsible experience in a library involving circulation work, stack maintenance, processing orders for library materials, posting receipt of periodicals and other materials, locating and verifying bibliographic information using standard sources, and applying library terminology, practices, policies, and procedures. - At least one year of the required specialized experience must have been comparable to the Library Assistant IV level.
- Library Assistant IV:
Independently performs complex library support work; supervises and participates in moderately complex library support work; provides non‑professional support for a school library; performs related duties as assigned. - Supervisory Aptitude:
For certain positions, supervisory aptitude may be required. Demonstrated through successful completion of supervisory assignments, training courses, or favorable appraisals indicating supervisory potential.
