The Division of Social Sciences at the University of Hawai‘i – West O‘ahu invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Political Science position. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to teach a variety of Political Science courses, as well as Social Sciences foundation courses, contingent on the needs of the Political Science concentration and the Division of Social Sciences, respectively.
Specializing in serving a large Native Hawaiian population, effective teaching is the primary mission of this position at UH West O’ahu. The area of specialization is open; however, the successful candidate position is expected to contribute to the course offerings of the Division of Social Sciences, including supervising the Legislative Internship courses.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesIntroduction to Political Science, Constitutional Law, Politics of Public Policy, Hawai‘i Politics, Pacific Asian Politics, Senior Capstone, and other courses as necessary to meet the needs of the program. The regular teaching load is three courses per semester, delivered both traditional in-person as well as online classes.
