Extended Days Mentor

Island Pacific Academy is looking for an Extended Days Mentor to help assist with the Extended Day Program. Extended Days Mentor will assist the Auxiliary Programs Manager and Director with the implementation of a quality Extended Day program that enriches the students socially, emotionally, and physically. Mentors will maintain a safe and educational learning environment for children in grades Kindergarten through 6th grade by successfully implementing the daily program activities.

Plan, lead and supervise students in afternoon activities such as arts and crafts or quiet games

Provide opportunities for students to quietly work on homework

Supervises all indoor and outdoor activities to ensure safety at all times

Maintain a safe and healthy educational and play environment

Maintains a professional and positive attitude

Greets parents and ensures appropriate child sign-in procedures are completed

Sign children out when dismissed to classroom

Treats all children with dignity and respect

Helps to maintain a clean and organized classroom

Acts as representative of Island Pacific Academy and demonstrates the core values of the school

Experience working with elementary school aged children

Must be at least 18 years of age

Possess a basic knowledge and understanding of school aged children

Ability to follow written and oral directions

Possess the ability to communicate verbally and in writing

Self starter and ability to perform the job with little supervision.

Students in a higher education coursework related to education preferred

Must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive, and be able to relate well to children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the School’s program and philosophy.

Must pass a background check

Work environment includes standing, sitting and moving around regularly in both an indoor air conditioned and outdoor, hot and humid environment
Regular lifting up to 15lbs
The noise level of the position can occasionally be moderate or high during school events or outdoor activities.
