Position:
Engineer IV / Engineer V
Pay Range:
Engineer IV: $8,299 to $9,504 per month;
Engineer V: $8,963 to $10,265 per month.
Step: EN 24, Step D to I for Engineer IV; EN-26, Step D to I for Engineer V.
Responsibilities- Engage in complex professional engineering work in planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of specialized engineering projects.
- Plan and conduct research, development, or other work to improve, extend, or validate precedents, methods, or techniques.
- Supervise major and complex engineering projects (Engineer V) and provide technical guidance on critical problems of highly specialized nature.
- Review work prepared by other professional engineers or contract firms (Engineer V).
- Assist in staff advisory services as required.
- Legal Authorization to work: citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States, or eligible under federal law.
- Professional Engineer license:
Must possess a valid State of Hawaii Professional Engineer license at time of application. - Education:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four‑year college or university. Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field considered. - Experience:
Three years for Level IV and four years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience for Level V, with at least one year comparable to the next lower level. - Supervisory aptitude:
Required for Level V as specified in the minimum qualification requirements. - Driver’s license:
Some positions require a valid driver’s license. - Physical requirements:
Ability to lift and carry items as specified for the position. - Security clearance:
Eligibility for SIDA and TWIC clearance; fingerprint‑based criminal history record check required.
