Position Summary

The Director of Human Resources serves as a strategic business partner to executive leadership and is responsible for overseeing a fully integrated Human Resources function supporting retail operations throughout Hawaii. This position provides leadership across employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, workforce planning, compliance, organizational development, succession planning, and HR team development. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful and experienced HR leader with the ability to navigate both strategic and operational challenges in a fast-paced environment while fostering a positive and engaging workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute strategic HR initiatives aligned with business objectives
  • Lead and mentor a team of HR professionals, fostering professional development and operational excellence
  • Provide senior-level guidance on employee relations, workplace investigations, performance management, and disciplinary matters
  • Oversee talent acquisition, onboarding, retention, and workforce planning initiatives
  • Support organizational development, succession planning, and change management efforts
  • Manage compensation programs, benefits administration, and total rewards initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, regulations, and company policies
  • Monitor HR metrics and workforce trends to support data-driven decision making
  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs that support organizational goals
  • Partner with stakeholders to enhance employee engagement and strengthen workplace culture
  • Lead HR-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Minimum 7 years of leadership experience at the Manager or Director level
  • Broad knowledge of Human Resources disciplines, including employee relations, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, performance management, and organizational development
  • Experience leading organizational change and succession planning initiatives
  • Strong project management skills and experience leading complex HR initiatives
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or similar certification strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism and discretion

Compensation

Compensation is determined individually based on the experience, qualifications, and expertise each candidate brings to the role.

Director of Human Resources: $150,000-$180,000 annually. This range is not a guarantee of a specific salary. Final compensation may vary based on education, certifications, experience, internal equity, budget approval, and other job-related factors.
