Systems Architecture Engineer Full Time | Camp Smith | Top Secret Clearance required We are seeking a full-time Systems Architecture Engineer to join our team supporting USPACOM. The Systems Architecture Engineer will provide on-site architectural support to the U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM) Requirements and Resources Directorate (J8), Edge Theater Architecture (ETA) Team. The Systems Architecture Engineer will provide on-site architectural support to ETA planning and development, working under the direction of the Architecture Lead.
Furthermore, the Systems Architecture Engineer will facilitate daily design, development, and evaluation of Network Theater Architectures and provide on-site support.
- Support the development of architectural artifacts, including diagrams, models, and specifications.
- Assist in the evaluation of the feasibility and performance of different architectural options.
- Provide technical support to the team on architectural matters.
- Ensure that the architecture is aligned with Department of War (DoW, formerly Department of Defense (DoD)) and USPACOM standards.
- Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to develop integrated solutions.
- Provide on-site support and troubleshooting during experimentation events.
- Conceptualize operational needs and solutions at a high level and then develop technical requirements and recommend solutions to drive improvement to existing design and solutions.
- Oversee the strategic interface for system of systems configuration, network configuration, strategically plan new configurations for network operations using knowledge of the characteristics of the systems being added to the network, and the specifications for network interfaces to ensure effective integration and optimal network performance.
- Research, design, test, and evaluate new technologies and solutions. Maintain an organization-wide view of current and future operations and architecture to recommend solutions that integrate into the overall architectural vision and strategy.
- Design and implement computer and information networks, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), intranets, extranets, and other data communications networks such as Software Defined Networks (SDN).
- Participate in and/or lead design and engineering projects for ETA experimentation involving the extension and application of advanced engineering and networking principles and concepts.
- Perform network planning, modeling, and analysis.
- Design network and computer security measures, and research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software.
- Provide assessments regarding the technical characteristics of the proposals and alternatives considered to optimize network performance and data throughput in support of operational users.
- Conduct advanced and state-of-the-art assignments such as network design optimization, technical experiments, specification of equipment configurations, technology assessment, technology insertion planning, capacity planning, and configuration management.
- Travel up to 15% annually, both to Mainland U.S. and Allied and Partner nations, in support of conferences, planning sessions, and exercises/experiments.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
- At least 5 years of experience supporting the DoW, including at least 3 years of experience in military operations.
- Knowledge of the USPACOM AOR.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must have an active Top-Secret security clearance, with SCI eligibility later during employment.
Note:
US Citizenship is required to obtain Top-Secret Clearance. - 5+ years of experience in systems integration and/or network infrastructure for a complex DoW network.
