Casual Director Of Enrollment Services

Hiring Unit: UH West Oahu Student Affairs

This position is a key member of the Vice Chancellor's management team. The primary purpose of this section Director is to provide the leadership and vision for all programs related to recruitment, admissions, financial, registration, and records. The Director of Enrollment Services will lead, support, and coordinate the efforts of unit leads within the section. Included in this leadership and support will be the complete cycle of program development from ideation, implementation, and evaluation, strategic and long range to short-range planning, collaborative problem-solving, etc.

Work assignments for this Section Director will focus primarily on recruiting, admitting, and financially supporting individuals so that they may enter the higher education academy as well as maintaining accurate and complete records of students' matriculation at UHWO.

Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the areas described herein. The enumeration of such duties is not intended to be exhaustive, but rather to serve as a guide for the incumbent and supervisor to use in determining how best to achieve the unit, section, and division's core functions and mission. As such, work assignments may vary depending upon unit and section needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Service Administration & Academic Intervention Programs

  • Provides leadership, vision, strategic direction and management of areas related to recruitment, outreach, marketing, admissions, registration, and financial aid services that affect campus enrollment.
  • Facilitates the crafting and implementation of an enrollment management plan from inquiry to matriculation and make recommendations to campus leadership on critical enrollment issues and decisions. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Establishing numerical goals for recruiting different target groups identified, including first time freshmen, transfers, working adults, neighbor island distance learners, and military connected.
    • Designing, implementing, and evaluating both recruitment and yield activities to achieve enrollment objectives.
    • Overseeing a prospect management system that assists with achieving campus enrollment objectives.
    • Consistently assessing and improving the processes for attracting and retaining targeted student groups throughout the State of Hawai`i, nationally, and globally.
  • Provides leadership and direction for the ongoing strategic marketing efforts to articulate the message about what is distinctively rewarding and valuable in a college education s includes, but is not limited to:
    • Creating, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive and consistent outreach, recruitment, and yield activities for targeted groups including high school graduates, community college transfers, working adults, neighbor island distance learners, and the military connected.
    • Overseeing the production of informational literature, materials, collateral, and swag for admissions, recruitment, financial aid, and registration with the goal of increasing and enhancing recruitment and marketing efforts to attain enrollment goals.
    • Working in conjunction with Communications & Public Affairs staff to generate and monitor the effectiveness of ad campaigns such as print, radio, television, and social media.
    • Reviewing and commenting on other campus materials used to publicize campus programs and services (e.g. general catalog, schedule of classes, departmental web pages, etc.) using different types of media.
  • Oversees the implementation of divisional and section planning required as a result of re-focusing, reorganizations, staff assignments and re-assignments, position re­ descriptions, etc., including the facilitation of planning processes to effect program mergers and coalescence as needed.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates marketing strategies and approaches to systematically recruit students, faculty, staff, and others to recruitment and marketing involvement, engagement, and enrollment services employment opportunities.
  • Works with vice chancellor in responding to inquiries from University offices, the Board of Regents, the Legislature, State agencies, Federal agencies, and other internal and external groups. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • researching and preparing background and position papers, fact sheets, briefing documents, written testimony, and other responses for policy development, procedural analysis, and decision making on current and/or new directions or other issues;
    • reviewing, summarizing, and analyzing reports, requests, and recommendations received by the division;
    • establishing and maintaining purposeful working relationships and contacts with inquirers to advocate on behalf of the department; and
    • advising appropriate student organizations about pending policies and/or legislation that impact their missions and goals.
