Position: LOGISTICS AND SUPPLY OFFICER

This posting is for the State of Hawaii, Department of Defense, Youth Challenge Academy.

This position is located on the Island of Oahu, Kalaeloa

The State Recruiting Office will refer all inquiries regarding this exempt position to the Department of Defense, Youth Challenge Academy.

This position serves as the logistical and supply coordinator for the Hawaii National Guard Youth Challenge Academy and shall be responsible for procuring, managing, and coordinating all program goods/supplies, services and inventory.

A flex work schedule that includes day, evening, weekend, nights and holiday hours may also be worked.

The Hawaii National Guard Youth CHalleNGe Academy, at any allotted time, without notice, reserves the right to adjust, modify and or make changes to the duties and responsibilities of this position to ensure Mission success.

  • A. Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision; office practices and procedures; and supply management.
  • B. Knowledge of principles and practices of administration, including program planning and evaluation techniques; budget preparation and execution; principles and practices of supervision; office practices and procedures; fiscal and supply management.
  • C. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • D. Ability to establish sound guidelines, foster cooperation among different groups, and ensure compliance with rules and policies.
  • E. Ability to plan, organize, direct, coordinate and evaluate various administrative and support service activities; make sound policy decisions; maintain effective liaison, cooperation and adherence to program plans, policies and procedures; communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • F. Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office programs (ex. Excel and Word) along with processing standard computer operating skills.
  • G. Experience safeguarding, person(s), the community and/or businesses.
  • H. Worked in a team/collaborative and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize projects and work effectively under pressure.
  • I. Have demonstrated ability to work in a stressful environment.
  • J. Graduation from an accredited college or university or substitution of comparable experience.
  • K. And at least two (2) years of responsible experience which demonstrated the ability to perform administrative assignments, and which involved active participation in and major responsibility for the development, management, execution and coordination of fiscal and support service activities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A. National Guard, Reserve and Retired Military members.
  • B. Experience working with at‑promise youth.
  • C. Knowledge of the function of the YCA program and objectives; military organization, policies, procedures and regulations. Familiarity with military organization and procedures.
  • D. Must have the ability to instruct/communicate orally to a group of people.
  • E. Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with others; keep records and prepare reports; communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; direct and supervise at risk youth.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, ETC.

Possess a valid license to drive in the State of Hawaii, and an appropriate military driver’s license, if applicable.

Pass the National Agency Check and Criminal Background Check.

This position is exempt from the civil service and considered temporary in nature. Therefore, if you are appointed to the position, your employment will be considered to be "at will", which means that you may be discharged from your employment at the prerogative of your department head or designee at any time.
