Under the general supervision of the designated project lead(s), serves as the Digital Marketing & Outreach Specialist for a one-year initiative supporting the Mathematics, Natural and Health Sciences (MNHS) Division and the Academy for Creative Media (ACM) at the University of Hawai’i – West O’ahu.
The Digital Marketing & Outreach Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, and assessing marketing and outreach strategies designed to increase program visibility, strengthen prospective student engagement, and support recruitment efforts. This position also develops sustainable digital marketing systems and workflows that improve the efficiency, consistency, and reach of existing communications.
The position supports the development of an integrated infrastructure across MNHS and ACM, including social media, email communications, recruitment materials, digital campaigns, prospective student outreach, analytics, and appropriate use of automation and artificial intelligence tools.
Duties and Responsibilities (* Denotes Essential Functions):
Marketing and Communications
- * Develops and implements coordinated marketing and communication strategies for MNHS and ACM academic programs, initiatives, events, and recruitment activities.
- * Creates, edits, adapts, schedules, and distributes content across social media, email marketing, websites, and other approved communication platforms.
- * Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and other contributors to identify program activities, accomplishments, events, opportunities, and stories appropriate for promotion.
- * Develops marketing content appropriate for prospective students and other identified audiences while maintaining consistency with University branding and communication standards.
- * Maintains editorial and content calendars and assists in coordinating communications across participating programs.
- * Reviews existing marketing and outreach processes and identifies opportunities to improve efficiency.
- * Develops repeatable workflows for content development, approval, scheduling, distribution, and audience follow-up.
- * Uses appropriate automation and artificial intelligence tools to assist with routine marketing functions, including content formatting, scheduling, distribution, audience segmentation, and campaign coordination.
- * Establishes appropriate review procedures to ensure that automated and AI-assisted communications remain subject to human oversight and comply with applicable University polices and standards.
- * Develops documentation, templates, procedures, and other resources necessary to sustain established marketing systems following completion of the project.
- * Supports recruitment and outreach activities targeting prospective high school, transfer, and other students interested in MNHS and ACM academic programs.
- * Develops digital and print recruitment materials for use at school visits, college fairs, community events, and other outreach activities.
- * Develops and maintains mechanisms for prospective students to access program information and express interest, including QR codes, digital landing pages, inquiry forms, and related communication tools.
