Job Summary
As a Department Manager at H&M, you support the store’s sales and profit goals by delivering an outstanding customer experience in your department and across the store. You develop your team, manage performance, provide training, and implement H&M standards and policies to meet customer and colleague expectations.
Responsibilities- Analyze sales & profit KPIs and collaborate with Visual Merchandisers to maximize sales.
- Ensure store operations and H&M standards are followed, schedule staff to maximize conversion and support commercial activities.
- Plan and prioritize actions that positively impact sales, following the Commercial Handbook.
- Coach staff to deliver H&M Customer Service standards.
- Participate in store routines: delivery truck, garment processing, reductions, department moves, price changes.
- Prevent loss and enforce safety & security guidelines.
- Provide input on allocation and replenishment, and inform the Store Manager of market risks or opportunities.
- Recruit, train, develop and support succession planning for the team.
- Evaluate and manage team performance, delivering feedback, development plans and corrective actions.
- Communicate performance, culture and training focus to the store team.
- Address health, safety, legal and security issues in line with H&M and local laws.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities: time‑off requests, pay, terminations, employment decisions.
- Take overall store responsibility in the Store Manager’s absence.
- Promote feedback culture and coach your team to do the same.
- Positive, inclusive, creative and willing to learn.
- Passionate about customer service and fashion.
- Excellent multitasking skills and attention to detail.
- 1-2+ years of transferrable experience preferred.
- Ability to lift over 20 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending and using a ladder.
- Open availability, including evenings and weekends.
- Basic computer skills (browser navigation, software interaction, data entry).
- May be required to travel for training or support.
- Competitive hourly wage ($26.60 – $30.59).
