Essential Functions- Performs mechanical maintenance on power plant equipment, such as boilers, air heaters, soot blowers, fans, heat exchangers, traveling screens, valves and piping. Trains to become qualified as a pipefitter mechanic.
- Works from blueprints, sketches, instruction manuals and written or oral instructions.
- Performs steel erection and rigging work.
- Occasionally performs general non‑code welding, including operation of stud gun. Installs replacement piping.
- Performs burning used in the dismantling of piping or equipment or the rough sizing of pipe, plate, bars, etc., where the quality of the cutting is not important.
- Performs maintenance on buildings and structures.
- Does concrete work including the construction of forms, installation of steel, and cement finishing.
- Operates material handling and other equipment as required.
- Performs minor non‑asbestos insulation removal incidental to the performance of maintenance tasks.
- Records a description of work completed.
- Directs the work of personnel in lower classifications on any or all of the above operations.
- Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
- Graduate of applicable apprentice program or equivalent training and experience.
- Must pass Company Written Job Knowledge Test (Journeyman, 1st year).
