Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Kapolei, Hawaii
Compensation & Benefits- Hourly Pay: $27.68 per hour
- Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus:
Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter – four times per year - Sign On Bonus: $3,000
- Tool Box/Tool Allowance
- Schedule:
Monday–Saturday with one day off during the week - Hours:
Second Shift Monday–Friday 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm, Saturday 6:30 am – 3:30 pm

Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree, preferred
- Basic tools, required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
- Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience, preferred
- Valid commercial driver license (CDL) Class A, preferred
- Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass a Ryder drug test
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor‑vehicle records check, a road test, and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
Responsibilities- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Perform standard vehicle maintenance
- Perform standard component inspections and repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
- Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations, e.g., Service Island support
