The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is recruiting Social Worker or Human Services Professional III and IV for Correctional Facilities and Intake Service Center on Hawaii Island. Salary range: $5,107 to $6,728 per month (for appropriate steps).

Responsibilities
  • Assess client needs, develop and implement service plans, monitor progress, and adjust plans.
  • Provide direct services as appropriate.
  • Work independently (Type

    A) or under supervision (Type

    B) with clients presenting complex psychosocial, physical/mental, and environmental issues.
  • Maintain professional records and report as required.
Basic Education
  • Social Worker:
    Bachelor’s or Master’s in social work from an accredited program; doctoral degree acceptable.
  • Human Services Professional:
    Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 semester credit hours in counseling, criminal justice, human services, psychology, social work, social welfare, sociology or related behavioral science.
Specialized Experience
  • Social Worker:
    • Level III: one year of specialized experience (if Bachelor’s), none if Master’s or Ph.D.
    • Level IV: two years of specialized experience (if Bachelor’s), one year if Master’s, none if Ph.D.
  • Human Services Professional:
    • Level III: one and one‑half years of specialized experience.
    • Level IV: two and one‑half years of specialized experience.
Other Requirements
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver’s license required for some positions.
  • Drug screening and intensive background check required.
  • Must comply with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) requirements.
  • Applicants who will graduate within three months may be considered if they meet qualifications at graduation.
