Accountant Position

We are looking for an accountant to join a nonprofit organization in Katy, Texas in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This onsite role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting specialist who brings experience with grant-related funding, cost allocation methods, and nonprofit financial operations. The position will support day-to-day accounting activities while helping maintain accurate records, strong compliance practices, and timely financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily accounting operations across payables, receivables, general ledger activity, and routine financial transactions.
• Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts, and maintain the accuracy of month-end records.
• Track grant-related transactions and apply allocation methodologies to ensure expenses are assigned correctly across funding sources.
• Support nonprofit accounting processes by maintaining documentation and helping uphold reporting and compliance standards tied to restricted funds.
• Use Blackbaud Financial Edge and Excel to analyze financial data, organize records, and produce reliable accounting support schedules.
• Assist with account reviews, resolve discrepancies, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve financial accuracy and timeliness.
• Contribute to periodic closing activities and help prepare information needed for internal reporting and audit support.
• Work onsite five days per week and provide consistent hands-on support for the organization's accounting function.
