Interim Controller

Job Summary

Tatum Consulting has an immediate need for an Interim Controller
. This consultant will work on-site in the Katy, Texas office
. The consultant will work for a mid‑sized distribution company in West Houston looking for an Interim Controller to lead their accounting functions for the next 2 to 4 months. In this role, you will keep daily financial operations running smoothly and guide a small, dedicated accounting team during a transitional time in the department.

Location:

Katy, Texas.
Job Type: Contract.
Salary: $60‑85 per hour.

Work Hours:

8 to 5.

Education:

Bachelor's degree.

Experience:

10 years.

• Oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations, including AP/AR, general ledger, and cash flow management.
• Lead the month‑end close process and prepare financial statements.
• Manage inventory accounting, costing, and reconciliations.
• Provide direct leadership and support to a small accounting team.
• Partner with company leadership to deliver clear financial insights.

• Must have strong MS Excel.
• 5+ years of experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller with preference for a background in distribution, logistics, or inventory‑heavy industries.
• Strong, hands‑on knowledge of inventory accounting and ERP systems.
• A collaborative, detail‑oriented leader who thrives in a small‑team environment.
• Ability to commit to a 2‑4 month, full‑time, in‑office assignment in West Houston.
• Active CPA or CMA is a plus, but proven experience is the priority.
