Job Title:
Senior Accountant
Reporting to the Accounting Manager based in Katy, TX, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and supporting key areas of the accounting function, including fixed asset accounting, lease accounting under ASC 842, sales and use tax compliance, and cost accounting activities.
This position will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain compliance with U.S. GAAP, and contribute to process improvement initiatives across the accounting organization.
Fixed Assets
- Maintain the fixed asset subledger, ensuring accurate capitalization, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
- Review and record construction-in-progress (CIP) activity and support timely project closeouts.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of fixed asset balances to the general ledger.
- Support capital expenditure tracking, approvals, and reporting.
- Manage the accounting and reporting for operating and finance leases, including data maintenance in lease accounting software.
- Record lease additions, modifications, terminations, and remeasurements.
- Prepare monthly lease journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Support quarterly and annual lease disclosures and related reporting requirements.
- Support the filing of sales and use tax returns, ensuring compliance with applicable state and local regulations and reconcile the balance with One Source/filing.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and internal departments to address tax questions or audits.
- Prepare and analyze monthly variance reports on income statements and balance sheets.
- Assist in monthly and quarterly close processes, preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
