Financial Aid and Eligibility Specialist

The Financial Aid and Eligibility Specialist provides superior customer service to applicants seeking financial aid assistance for training in a fast‑paced, multi‑functional environment. This person assists applicants with applications and required documents for financial assistance and other expanded services offered by Workforce Solutions.

Location:

Gulf Coast Region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine if customers are eligible for the Workforce Solutions financial aid.
  • Enter information in the appropriate management information system and maintain electronic files as needed.
  • Function as a financial aid resource specialist for applicants, responding to inquiries from prospective students.
  • Handle a high volume of inbound and outbound communication with prospective residents seeking financial aid for training.
  • Process a high volume of incoming applications/inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collect accurate and complete information from residents, protecting confidential information, while determining eligibility.
  • Make recommendations for process improvements to continuously improve efficiency and customer service.
  • Resolve routine customer concerns using excellent customer service skills.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with all business partners to ensure seamless customer service.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of work experience, preferably in eligibility and/or a customer service environment.
  • Broad base knowledge of Labor Market Information and financial aid for childcare and training programs.
  • Ability to proactively resolve issues and seek answers, actively look for ways to help people, perform under pressure, meet tight deadlines and exceed performance goals.
  • High attention to detail regarding data entry and other record keeping.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite and other required locations.
