QualificationsCollege hours for Title I campus 48 required or 464 on the Para Pro test
College hours, high school diploma or GED for Non-Title I campus
Ability to work with and communicate with children
Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to maintain strict discipline
Maintain an effective working environment
Ability to work independently
Experience in working with students
Knowledge of general office equipment
Accuracy in record keeping and form completion
Ability to keep information confidential
Paraprofessional Aide certificate required once employed
Valid CPI certification preferred (can be obtained after employment)
Primary PurposeTo assist campus admin, teachers and staff with a variety of behavioral support duties including assisting with the supervision of ISS (In-School Suspension)
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Adhere to federal, state and local policies and procedures
- Participate in planned in-services and professional growth activities.
- Assist in carrying out a behavioral program for students.
- Assist administrators with modeling and coaching for students with behavioral challenges.
- Assist in collecting and maintaining the student behavior data.
- Obtain and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
- Provide instruction to students under the supervision of administrators
- Provide behavior intervention strategies under the supervision of administrators
- Supervise students’ work which includes administering tests and tutoring, as needed.
- Oversee character education activities as prescribed by campus administration.
- Maintain strict discipline in order to provide students with a strictly controlled atmosphere for learning.
- Assist in obtaining assignments from teachers and delivering student work to teachers.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student membership in ISS.

Personal computer, copier, calculator, fax machine, laminator
Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; occasional running, heavy lifting and carrying, 45 pounds and over daily, noise exposure, exposure to physical and verbal outbursts by students. May be required to utilize CPI strategies to manage disruptive students, including restraint.
