Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Pay Grade: Teacher Hiring Schedule
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
Knowledge of overall operation of theatre program
Knowledge of state, UIL, TETA, JITS and ITS policies governing theatre activities
Knowledge of the International Thespian Society bylaws, organization, and activities
Three years teaching and theatre directing/technical experience preferred
General knowledge of design & delivery issues related to alignment for best results in student achievement
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, public relations, communication, and interpersonal skills
Student teaching or approved internship
Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and meet other student needs as required
Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and adequately facilitate small and large group instruction
Primary Purpose:
Direct and manage the overall theatre program for the campus and district. Provide students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular theatre activities and ensure compliance with all state and district requirements. Plan and administer theatre activities in accordance with campus and district expectations. Plan and prepare to provide students the opportunity to achieve district, region, and state recognition.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
SMART Board, computer, printer, copier, overhead projector, DVD/VCR, other specialized equipment that is particularly unique to the teaching assignment.
Working Conditions:
Frequent district and occasional statewide travel; prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor and indoor work; exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather. Standing for long periods of time. Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing, ie relocating stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. The level of mobility required depends upon the grade level of teaching assignment(s) and requirements thereof.
Must maintain emotional control under stress.
