Qualifications- Master's degree preferred
- Mid-management certification preferred
- Valid Texas Teacher Certificate
- Minimum of five years’ successful experience in the education field
- Content knowledge in Science, Social Studies, PE, and Health
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- High level of comfort with technology tools and the ability to learn new systems quickly
Responsible for the overall coordination and administration of the Outdoor Learning Center Program and strategic leadership in Physical Education and Health to ensure the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-quality curriculum and instruction that positively impacts student outcomes.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Collaborate with Coordinator of PE, Health and OLC and other appropriate curriculum coordinators in designing, planning and implementing curriculum, and professional learning related to the OLC and PE K-12.
- Assist with preparing and managing a budget for the OLC and OLC summer recreation based on identified needs and priorities.
- Assist with the development and implementation of K-12 PE and Health curriculum aligned to district goals.
- Maintain an inventory of all supplies, equipment, displays, and animals at the center.
- Communicate and coordinate with campus personnel prior to their visits to the center.
- Schedule classes and other activities at the OLC.
- Collaborate with campuses to problem solve and support improved student outcomes.
- Interact with community and schools to promote the OLC concept.
- Serve as facilitator/trainer for OLC volunteers.
- Provide appropriate grade level instruction regularly.
- Support District goals in daily OLC activities.
- Coordinate the annual Katy Folk Life Festival.
- Collaborate with KISD Operations Division and OLC caretaker to maintain the facility grounds.
- Assist in coordinating and supervising the Outdoor Education Summer Recreation Program.
- Lead the development and implementation of online learning opportunities for secondary PE and Health.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
District-provided computer/laptop, monitor, printer, copier, and standard office equipment; instructional technology tools and digital content platforms; learning management system (LMS) and learning tools integrations (LTIs); webcam, microphone/headset, and other tools necessary to create and deliver virtual professional learning and digital instructional resources.
Working ConditionsMaintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district and occasional statewide travel; prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor and indoor work; exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather.
