Reports to: Principal

Duty Days: 187

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Pay Grade: I00 – (Pay Based on Years of Experience - Teacher Hiring Schedule)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned

• Knowledge of subjects assigned

• ESL certification required for ELA, Reading and self‑contained Special Education teaching assignments

• General knowledge of design and delivery issues related to alignment for best results in student achievement

• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

• Student teaching or approved internship

• Physical ability to monitor student discipline and progress and meet other student needs as required

• Physical ability to move about the room to perform formative assessments and facilitate small and large group instruction

Mission

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, and enable them to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet district curriculum requirements and show evidence of preparation in Eduphoria/Forethought as required by district policy.
  • Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Plan and use instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to IEP guidelines.
  • Cooperate with other staff for planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments of teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Implement technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits.
  • Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  • Present a positive role model for students.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and IEPs.
  • Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Participate in campus and district staff development programs.
  • Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile and maintain all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Articulate the district’s mission and goals to the community and solicit its support.
  • Demonstrate awareness of district/community needs and initiate activities to meet identified needs.
  • Use appropriate techniques to enhance community and parent involvement in the local school system.
