Reports to: Principal
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university, Masters preferred.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate.
- Special Education Certificate, Licensed Dyslexia Therapist (LDT) or Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT), Required Reading specialization, preferred.
- Training in Dyslexia Intervention Program, preferred.
- Four plus years of experience teaching reading, preferred.
Provide dyslexia intervention to identified students and conduct dyslexia assessments. Communicate with campus staff, district special education staff, and parents/guardians on information pertaining to student needs.
What Success Looks Like- Deliver evidenced based dyslexia program with fidelity to eligible students.
- Collaborate with regular education teachers and special education staff to develop PLAAFP and annual goals/objectives for IEPs and to assist in providing an appropriate education for eligible dyslexia or related disorders students.
- Participate in MTSS, Section 504, and ARD committees to collaboratively make decisions about dyslexia.
- Administer and interpret comprehensive dyslexia assessments.
- Attend on-going staff development in the area of dyslexia and related disorders as appropriate.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Collect, maintain, and report data related to student progress.
- Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and IEPs.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, parents, and students.
- Ability to communicate the evidenced based dyslexia program and student progress to parents.
- Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible, including student confidentiality.
- Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.
- Ability to adhere to local, state and federal guidelines in the delivery of service to eligible students.
- SHARS duties as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
