Qualifications- Master’s Degree preferred
- Valid Texas teaching certificate or license
- ESL certification required
- Ability to work with school, community and emergent bilingual (EB) population
- Ability to disaggregate and analyze academic data
- Knowledge of state and federal laws concerning ESL programs
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with teachers who service EB students
- Training and/or certification in identifying and working with EB students
- Experience in content-based language instruction (CBLI)
- Experience in curriculum development
The Program Facilitator for Elementary ESL will provide leadership in the coordination and delivery of services to staff who support EB students. This individual will also provide training to ensure that course content is comprehensible and accessible.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Work directly with teachers of EB students to provide supplemental support, integrating language and content objectives in all instructional settings.
- Provide leadership in the identification, placement, and instructional planning for EB students.
- Model instructional strategies and lessons for teachers of EB students.
- Support campuses in fulfilling Title III grant objectives.
- Analyze ESL data to enhance EB student performance.
- Plan, facilitate, present, and evaluate professional development for staff supporting EB students in order to fulfill the Title III professional development requirements.
- Monitor and assist with Title III extended day campus programs to ensure successful implementation.
- Support the planning and preparation for the Katy Summer Program for EB students.
- Compile and evaluate pre-/post-assessment data for summer school programs that support EB students.
- Evaluate, identify, and coordinate the implementation of supplemental EB resources.
- Work with Instructional Officer in the development of curriculum and appropriate teaching strategies to meet federal grant objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Provide support to ESL programs outside of regular contract hours.
- Assist with the coordination and implementation of extended day/year programs.
- Monitor extended day/year programs and report academic results.
- Support parents, family, and community engagement.
Interactive white board, computer, printer, copier, document camera, and other emerging technologies unique to the teaching assignment. Instructional and productivity software as required by the assignment.
Working ConditionsWork with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; participate in regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations; moderate lifting and carrying.
