Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred - Valid Texas teaching certification or license
- Evidence of Reading Academy Completion
- Minimum three years of experience in teaching English Language Arts
- Demonstrate instructional leadership
- Experience in presenting English Language Arts professional learning
- Technology skills to support instructional programs
- Strong organizational skills
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
Collaboratively work with teachers, campus and district leaders, and curriculum coordinators to design, develop, and support the District’s vision for elementary literacy. This person will facilitate the Elementary Literacy Task force and lead actions identified in the District’s Strategic Plan related to literacy.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Stay abreast of program requirements and best practices in literacy.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of activities for the Elementary Literacy Task Force.
- Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and plans for improvement.
- Interpret data, including but not limited to, standardized and other assessment results for diagnosis, instructional planning and program evaluation.
- Compile pre-program, mid-program, and post-program data for project evaluation.
- Assist in reading curriculum revision and development.
- Assist with the selection of reading resources related to identified district criteria and needs.
- Design and implement professional development sessions to help literacy teachers and administrators improve teaching and learning in elementary literacy.
- Organize content and/or program specific meetings and staff development as required.
- Collaborate with Elementary Curriculum & Instruction Coordinators and Reading Academy Specialists on a frequent basis.
- Utilize time wisely for the effective management of job responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Working ConditionsWork with frequent interruptions; in district travel; maintain emotional control under stress; moderate lifting; occasional prolonged and irregular hours; some out of district travel required.
