Qualifications- Master’s Degree
- Valid Texas teacher certificate required
- Valid Principal Certification preferred
- Five years of experience in teaching or related area
- Knowledge of curriculum design and development
- Knowledge of instructional best practices
- Knowledge of assessment
- Knowledge of professional learning (including job-embedded professional development)
- Leadership experience
- Organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate and lead the core content areas. The curriculum coordinator works collaboratively with teachers to design and develop curriculum that engages students, integrates technology, and fosters high levels of student learning. The coordinator possesses knowledge of national and state standards, current trends and issues in curriculum, and research-based instructional practices.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Articulate the district’s mission, philosophies, and curriculum/instructional strategies.
- Remain current in scientifically research-based best practices and requirements in the content area.
- Plan, facilitate, present, and evaluate professional learning that supports the KISD curriculum.
- Work collaboratively with the campus-based instructional coach teams to support teachers in the delivery of content.
- Support and collaborate with principals, teachers, and support staff to effect horizontal and vertical continuity.
- Collaborate with campus and district staff in the selection of appropriate instructional resources.
- Develop, preview, recommend, and maintain resources that are aligned to the curriculum, including technology applications, programs, grants, and research.
- Model effective teaching and best practices to support campus instructional coaches.
- Assist in the mentoring and modeling of instructional practices to build campus capacity.
- Assist in the identification, prioritization, and development of professional learning that addresses a diverse student population.
- Conduct textbook adoption process.
- Assist in the collection of district data to develop actions that address present and future needs.
- Assist in the communication with all stakeholders regarding components of the assigned program.
- Assist in the development and management of the budget.
- Develop instructional materials/resources for the new school start‑up list.
- Collaborate with campus and district staff to develop assessments.
- Develop short‑term and long‑term goals for the curricular area with an emphasis on PreK‑12 alignment and articulation.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and resource materials for evaluating the effectiveness of the program.
- Serve on district, regional, and state committees as assigned.
- Participate in professional organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends and best practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Working ConditionsMaintain emotional control under stress; occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Some district travel required. Infrequent moderate lifting.
