Qualifications- College hours (15) or high school diploma or GED (with a passing score of 464 on the Para Pro test)
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instruction
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Accuracy in record keeping and form completion
- Ability to keep information confidential
- Paraprofessional Educational Aide II certificate required once employed
- Valid CPI certification preferred (can be obtained after employment)
Data tracking, instructional, and student care duties as assigned.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Adhere to federal, state and local policies and procedures related to special education.
- Participate in planned in‑services and professional growth activities.
- Assist in carrying out a behavioral program for students.
- Assist in maintaining student records.
- Coach and model behavioral interventions for specific students in their least restrictive environment.
- Assist behavior team with extended modeling and coaching for students with behavioral challenges.
- Assist in preparation for ARD meetings.
- Assist in collecting and maintaining the student behavior data.
- Obtain and maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
- Support the Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) accepted by the ARD committee.
- Provide instruction to students under the supervision of Student Support Interventionist.
- Provide behavior intervention strategies under the supervision of the Student Support Interventionist.
- Monitor and support the implementation of the Student Support Initiative.

Working ConditionsMaintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; occasional running, heavy lifting and carrying, 45 pounds and over daily, positioning of students, moving classroom or adaptive equipment, noise exposure, biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases; exposure to physical and verbal outbursts by students. May be required to utilize CPI strategies to manage disruptive students, including restraint.
