Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university;
Master’s preferred - Science, Reading and/or Math specialization preferred
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
- Minimum of four years of experience teaching science/reading/math preferred
- Knowledge of science/reading and/or math accelerated instructional strategies
- Ability to administer and interpret science/reading/math assessment instruments
- Attend professional learning and utilize appropriately assigned high quality instructional materials for the student and/or student groups assigned
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Physically able to monitor student behavior and academic progress and meet other student needs as required
- Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and adequately facilitate small and large group instruction
Provide reading and/or math accelerated instruction to at‑risk students. Utilize assessment results to identify specific accelerated learning needs of students served. Develop and deliver reading/math intervention plans to accelerate growth for students who qualify for services.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Provide reading/math intervention to students most at risk of failing to attain grade level expectations.
- Administer diagnostic science/reading/math instruments to students most at risk.
- Interpret science/reading/math assessment instruments to determine specific accelerated learning needs.
- Develop instructional plans to meet the individualized needs of identified students.
- Monitor science/reading/math progress and growth of identified students.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process when appropriate.
- Assist classroom teachers in analyzing readings/math assessments and designing/delivering interventions.
- Participate in collaborative conversations to make instructional and placement decisions for struggling students.
- Provide parent support on how to improve children’s literacy and math/science development at home.
- Attend ongoing staff development in science/reading/math intervention and accelerated instruction.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of at‑risk students.
- Manage student behavior according to board policies, administrative regulations, and IEPs.
- Take necessary precautions to protect at‑risk students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior.
- Maintain compliance with state, district, and school regulations and policies for teachers.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Articulate the district’s mission and goals in assigned responsibilities to the community and solicit its support.
- Demonstrate appropriate techniques for community and parent involvement.
Computer, fax, copier, smart panel, hovercam, tape recorder, and other specialized equipment.
Working ConditionsStanding for long periods. Frequent stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing (relocating stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment). Required mobility depends on grade level of teaching assignment(s). Must maintain emotional control under stress.
