Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university;
Masters preferred - Science, Reading, and/or Math specialization preferred
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements
- Minimum of four years of experience teaching science/reading/math preferred
- Knowledge of accelerated instructional strategies for science/reading/math
- Ability to administer and interpret assessment instruments
- Attends professional learning and uses high-quality instructional materials
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Physically able to monitor student behavior and academic progress
- Physically able to move about the room for formative assessments
Provide reading and/or math accelerated instruction to at-risk students; use assessment data to identify learning needs; develop and deliver intervention plans.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Provide intervention to students most at risk of failing to attain grade-level expectations.
- Administer diagnostic instruments as needed.
- Interpret assessment results to determine accelerated learning needs.
- Develop instructional plans for identified students.
- Monitor student progress and growth.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process when appropriate.
- Assist classroom teachers analyzing assessments and designing interventions.
- Participate in collaborative conversations for instructional decisions.
- Support parents in improving child literacy and math/science development at home.
- Attend ongoing staff development in intervention and accelerated instruction.
- Compile, maintain, and file reports, records, and documents.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the development of at-risk students.
- Manage student behavior according to policies and IEPs.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior.
- Stay informed of state, district, and school regulations and policies.
- Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as required.
- Articulate the district’s mission and goals to the community and solicit support.
- Demonstrate appropriate techniques for community and parent involvement.
Computer, fax, copier, smart panel, hovercam, tape recorder, and other specialized equipment.
Working ConditionsStand for long periods; frequent stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing of equipment; maintain emotional control under stress.
