Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree preferred - Valid Texas secondary teaching certificate
- Minimum of three years successful secondary teaching experience
- Quality Matters (QM) certification or experience applying QM standards preferred
- Experience supporting curriculum development and instructional design
- Experience designing and/or delivering professional learning for educators (virtual preferred)
- Experience developing or supporting digital learning experiences using the district learning management system (LMS) and approved digital tools
- Working knowledge of course standards and research-based instructional best practices
- Working knowledge of assessment practices and data analysis to inform instructional improvement
- Working knowledge of effective digital learning design
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- High level of comfort with technology tools and the ability to learn new systems quickly

Primary
Purpose:
The Virtual Learning Instructional Officer provides leadership and coordination for the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of innovative student-facing virtual courses. This role manages systems, workflows, timelines, and quality assurance processes to ensure virtual courses are developed efficiently, reviewed regularly, and aligned to district expectations and research-based instructional practices. The Instructional Officer collaborates with content experts, course designers, virtual content facilitators, and district staff to ensure the ongoing quality and effectiveness of innovative virtual learning, and provides professional learning and support as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of innovative student-facing virtual courses across secondary programs.Develop, implement, and continuously refine systems and workflows for course development, review, revision, and publication, in alignment with district expectations.Manage project timelines and deliverables to ensure innovative courses are completed on schedule and prepared for implementation.Manage and monitor the budget assigned to the innovative virtual learning program, including tracking expenditures, supporting purchasing needs, and communicating budget status to the Director.Provide work direction to virtual content facilitators and coordinate tasks to ensure progress toward completion in an efficient, problem-solving manner.Build and maintain project tracking systems using district-approved Microsoft tools to monitor course status, timelines, revision cycles, and deliverables.Establish and manage a three-year course review and revision cycle, and coordinate accelerated revisions when feedback or concerns are reported.Conduct spot checks and quality assurance reviews of courses and instructional resources to ensure alignment to course standards, district expectations, accessibility requirements, and research-based instructional practices.Determine readiness of course deliverables and coordinate the process for content experts to review and provide final approval.Collaborate with the Director and district content experts to determine when courses require revision based on review cycles, feedback, implementation concerns, and learner performance data.Create and maintain quality assurance tools, checklists, templates, and course expectations for virtual content facilitators and course designers, revising as needed with approval.Assist district content experts with recruiting and coordinating course designers and development teams based on identified needs and provided candidate lists.Design, develop, facilitate, and/or coordinate professional learning for course designers, content experts, and educators to support course development, implementation, and the effective use of district-approved digital tools (primarily asynchronous).Coordinate troubleshooting and implementation support for campuses, partnering with virtual content facilitators and district staff as needed.Develop and implement systems for collecting and analyzing data related to course success, including feedback, usage, and relevant performance indicators, to support continuous improvement.Collaborate with district departments to ensure alignment of resources, consistent communication, and successful implementation of innovative virtual learning.Support additional virtual learning and innovation initiatives as assigned, including development of instructional video banks, model lessons, or other digital resources to support high-quality instruction.Attend…
