- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Valid Texas certificate in appropriate area
- Ability to work effectively between the school and community
The mission of this role :
Provide special education consultation and instruction to meet the needs of eligible students with disabilities.
What success looks like for this role :
- Attend ARD/IEP meetings for students eligible for special education.
- Complete local, state and federal paper work required for program participation.
- Assist in developing instructional program for eligible students to achieve mastery of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) at the appropriate levels or IEP goals developed at the ARD meeting.
- Consult with regular education teachers to assist in providing an appropriate education for eligible students.
- Provide appropriate behavior management techniques for eligible students.
- Administer criterion referenced testing as requested by the Special Education Support Staff if appropriate.
- Retain appropriate documentation of skill development and mastery.
- Develop and implement a Family Service Plan and Individual Transition Plan for students with severe disabilities.
- Support the implementation plan for integration.
- Keep current and be willing to apply the state of the art educational practices.
- Other SHARS Duties as assigned.
- Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.

Workplace operational environment includes:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; and assist non‑ambulatory students. Exposed to biological hazards.
