Job Description
Teacher - 3rd Grade ELAR/SS at Katy ISD Memorial Parkway Elementary, Katy, Texas. Reports to a Principal. Duty days: 187. Exempt. Pay Grade: I00.
Start date:
July 31, 2026.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned.
- ESL certification required for K‑5 RLA or self‑contained special education or general education classroom assignments; preferred for Math, Science, Social Studies.
- Student teaching or approved internship.
- Physically able to monitor student discipline, facilitate instruction, and perform formative assessments.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in the future.
What Success Looks Like- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet district curriculum requirements.
- Prepare lessons reflecting accommodations and differentiation for student learning styles.
- Present subject matter according to Texas Education Agency guidelines and district policies.
- Collaborate with staff for planning and implementing instructional goals.
- Design or adapt learning experiences that incorporate digital tools.
- Assist in selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials.
- Use appropriate instructional strategies, assessments, activities, materials, and technology reflecting individual needs.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula per IEPs.
- Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods.
- Monitor student achievement through formal and informal assessment.
- Assume responsibility for assigned extracurricular activities.
- Create a conducive learning environment appropriate for KISD students.
- Manage student behavior and administer discipline per Board policies and the Discipline Management Plan.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Establish and maintain open communication through conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, parents, and community members.
- Present information accurately and clearly.
- Model professional, ethical behavior aligned with Texas Educators' Code of Ethics.
- Support campus and district mission and goals to stakeholders.
- Demonstrate awareness of district and community needs.
- Use effective techniques for engaging parents and the community.
- Implement new learning from professional development activities.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations.
- Compile, maintain, and file required reports and records.
- Attend faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Supervise instructional paraprofessionals, student teachers assigned by the principal, and volunteers.
- Participate in Aspiring Assistant Principals Academy.

Standing for long periods. Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing, such as moving stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, or other classroom technology. Mobility required varies by teaching assignment. Must maintain emotional control under stress.
