Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth through the study and engagement in visual arts. Prepare students for successful participation in various visual arts venues, i.e., exhibits, competitions, and shows. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district curriculum and show evidence of preparation as required by district policy.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
• Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect accommodations for individual needs of students.
• Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
• Work with special education teachers to modify curricula for students with IEPs.
• Cooperate with staff to plan and implement instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
• Plan and supervise the use of teacher aide(s) and volunteers.
• Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
• Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits.
• Assess student achievement through formal and informal testing and use results to plan instructional activities.
• Participate in extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved outside activities.
• Present a positive role model for students and support the school district mission.
• Demonstrate proficient artist skills within the classroom setting.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and development.
• Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to policies and IEPs.
