Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
• ESL certification required for K‑5 RLA or self‑contained special education or general education classroom assignments
• ESL certification preferred for Math, Science, Social Studies teaching assignments
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Student teaching or approved internship
• Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and to meet other student needs as required
• Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and facilitate small and large group instruction

What success looks like for this role

• Instructional Strategies – Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and show evidence of preparation using the district’s automated curriculum as required by district policy; prepare lessons that reflect accommodations and differentiation for student learning styles; present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations; collaborate with staff for planning and implementing instructional goals;
  
  design or adapt learning experiences that incorporate digital tools; assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
• Student Growth and Development – Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, assessment, activities, materials, and technology that reflect accommodations for individual student needs; work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula according to Individual Education Plans; assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits; monitor student achievement through formal and informal assessment; assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned;
  
  sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
• Classroom Management and Organization – Create a classroom environment conducive to learning; manage student behavior and administer discipline according to Board policies, administrative regulations, the Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct handbook and IEPs; take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Communication – Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers; maintain professional relationships; use acceptable communication skills; present a positive role model; articulate and provide support for the campus and district mission and goals; demonstrate awareness of district/community needs and engage parents and the community.
• Professional Growth and Development – Engage in and implement new learning from professional development activities; keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies; compile, maintain, and file required reports and records; attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
