Qualifications:15 college hours or high school diploma or GED (with a passing score of 464 on the Para Pro test)
Communicate and work with students with disabilities
Maintain effective working relationships
Minimum clerical skills
Good physical and emotional condition
Work with confidential material and student records
Paraprofessional Educational Aide II certificate required
CPI certification once employed
Have a CDL or willing to earn one in the first year of employment
PrimaryPurpose:
Clerical and student-care assistance as assigned
MajorDuties and Responsibilities:
Personal computer, copier, printer, calculator, laminator, Smart board, ovens, dishwashers, microwave, washer/dryer, radio communication equipment. Adaptive equipment – Wheelchair, wheelchair lifts, wheelchair restraints, ramps, locks, electric changing table, Hoyer lift, various physical therapy equipment, assistive technology including voice output devices, Gastrointestinal tube.
Working Conditions:Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Moderate standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, and pulling; regular heavy lifting of students. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. Lift moderate weight, 15 – 44 pounds and carry light weight, 15 pounds. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint;
and assist non-ambulatory students. Exposed to biological hazards, body fluids and communicable diseases and chemical hazards. Exposure to noise.
