Regulatory Specialist – Oil & Gas Operations

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Regulatory Specialist to oversee regulatory permitting and compliance for oil and gas operations in Wyoming. This role serves as the primary liaison between the company and federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and ensures full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and permit conditions across drilling, completion, production, and water disposal activities.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Energy Land Management, Petroleum Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of oil and gas regulatory compliance experience, preferably in Wyoming.
  • Strong working knowledge of oil and gas regulations, specific to federal and Wyoming, is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience working with BLM and state related agencies, preferably with the WOGCC and Wyoming DEQ.
  • Solid understanding of drilling, completion, and production operations and associated regulatory processes.
  • Ability to review and extract relevant information from operational reports, including drilling and well activity reports.
  • Proficiency with regulatory databases, online permitting systems, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented with a practical problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, office-based environment (five days per week).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with NEPA compliance and environmental assessment processes.
  • Knowledge of cultural and biological resource compliance.
  • Familiarity with federal onshore oil and gas lease management.
  • Background in environmental compliance or remediation.
  • Experience with GIS tools such as QGIS or Spotfire.
