Lead Civil Structural Engineer – Optimized Process Designs (OPD)

Optimized Process Designs (OPD), a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a Lead Civil Structural Engineer to join our team in Katy, TX. The role involves leading projects from concept to completion, designing critical foundations and structures, and supporting field construction efforts.

What You Will Do
  • Work closely with Project Managers and other engineering disciplines to develop and execute an effective project design strategy for civil and structural requirements.
  • Mentor and share knowledge with junior staff engineers.
  • Prepare scope of work, technical specifications, and all required drawings for bid packages.
  • Interact with suppliers and contractors to resolve construction and engineering design issues.
  • Provide project and field construction support, including troubleshooting and evaluation of existing civil/structural systems.
  • Assist in defining project scopes and estimates, and execute all aspects of structural design as needed.
  • Review incoming RFIs/Submittals and expedite responses.
  • Participate in final design coordination meetings and approve modifications.
  • Conduct walk‑downs with site representatives to verify proper installations.
  • Engineer structural steel supports, pipe racks, modular skids, and platforms.
  • Design foundations for racks, structures, vessels, pumps, compressors, and overall plant foundations for gas plants.
  • Promote and enforce Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) culture and regulations.
  • Contribute to proposal preparation activities as required.
  • Prepare estimates for materials, field man‑hours, and engineering hours.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience in gas treatment and/or natural gas structural design.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Direct client and vendor interface experience.
