Qualifications: Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
Mold technician license or equivalent (preferred)
Integral knowledge in safety and compliance issues with a concentration in IAQ, HAZCOM and Asbestos; two years’ experience (preferred)
Three years of supervisory experience
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ability to prepare technical reports and presentations
Strong organizational and project management skills
Knowledge of building structure, materials and ability to read plans & specifications
Ability to interpret environmental regulations and technical reports
Good conflict resolution skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems
Proficient in English (verbal and written)
Texas Operator’s License
Primary
Purpose:
Provide comprehensive support for all matters related to Maintenance and Operations involving building envelope systems, indoor air quality (IAQ), Hazard Communication (Haz Com)_and the district’s Asbestos Management Program to ensure facilities are safe, functional, compliant and maintained to the highest standards of excellence. Additionally, this position must ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and district policies while providing technical expertise and support to district departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise assigned employees performing environmental work and projects, including Building Envelope Project and Repairs.
- Evaluate employee performance and provide coaching and professional development.
- Prioritize work assignments and oversee project completion.
- Respond promptly to campus and departmental environmental concerns.
- Work collaboratively with other departments and campus administrators.
- Conduct inspections of roofing systems, exteriors walls, windows and building envelope components to identify conditions contributing to moisture intrusion or environmental concerns.
- Administer the District’s Hazard Communication (Haz Com) Program.
- Manage district hazardous waste program ensuring proper labeling, storage and handling of hazardous materials
- Maintain current Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all hazardous chemicals.
- Coordinate implementation of the District’s Asbestos Management Plan.
- Maintain required asbestos management documentation for all district campuses and facilities.
- Administer the District’s environmental compliance programs in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain environmental permits, reports and compliance documentation.
- Develop and maintain the District’s Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Management Program.
- Investigate employee and occupant concerns regarding indoor air quality.
- Coordinate remediation efforts related to moisture intrusion, ventilation and air quality concerns.
- Ability to work alternate work schedules or overtime to respond to emergency situations.
- Attend classes to keep licenses, CEU’s and training current on industry practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Equipment Used: Personal computer, IAQ equipment, moisture meter, district vehicle, particulate counter, Q-Trak, copier, ladders, lifts
Working Conditions: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain control under stress. Repetitive hand motions, bending, reaching, standing, sitting and lifting up to 50 pounds. Conditions normal to remediation projects. Physical ability to climb buildings and crawl under buildings. Frequent district wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours, work indoors and outdoors to conduct onsite inspections.
